Text Box: Text Box: Trinity Stands with Africa

In May we will direct our attention to the people of Africa as we continue to support projects in this part of the world. Outreach, Worship and Music, and Education Ministries have worked together to prepare the following programs.

Sunday, May 11—African Program at Adult Education

“Ethiopia! Friendships!”
Karel and Bob Waltermire will share their experiences and work with The Murulle Foundation that they created in Ethiopia with a beautiful PowerPoint presentation.
The Murulle Foundation is commtted to conserving the balance between cultural and natural resources in
sub-Saharan Africa. Projects include: providing textbooks to 10 schools, the Women’s Small Business Loan Program, and housing for needy families.

Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 – African Worship and Education

Mary Jo Huelle will preach at all three services and teach the adult education class. Mary Jo is the President
of Friends of Mwangaza, an independent Lutheran Organization which works on behalf of the Global Mission Unit of the ELCA. Her topic for the Adult Education class on Sunday will be “Focus on Similarities between Life in Tanzania and the U.S.”
The School in Mwangaza is where Esther and Bob Johnson served and which Trinity helped build. The
Mwangaza Project changes lives through these programs: Secondary School Teachers’ Professional Development, Nurturing Community Health, Computer Literacy, and HIV/AIDS Peer Education.

An Opportunity to Support Trinity’s Projects in Africa
During May there will be special offering envelopes available to give us an opportunity to support Trinity’s
projects in Africa. The funds collected will be given to:

Mwangaza Project - The school in Tanzania where Esther and Bob Johnson served

The Murulle Foundation - Karel and Bob Waltermire’s project in Ethiopia

Special offerings by check should be made out to ‘”Trinity Lutheran Church” with ‘”Africa” stated in the memo line. If you wish, you may designate which project you would like your donation to go towards. Contributions without a designation will be divided equally between the two projects. Thank you!

Help us celebrate and support these outstanding programs!
