March 2008

On February 2 the "new" Council met for a workshop/retreat. It was a great opportunity to learn more about each other and our ideas for Trinity. The church staff was there for an hour as we
discussed ways to work together to facilitate improvements in communication, publications, financial matters and our website. We appreciate Linda, Deb and Gianna sharing their time with us.

An emphasis was placed on empowering and strengthening our ministries. Each ministry is
responsible for programs and activities that fall within their purview. Council members will continue to support each other and the Council as a whole will continue to discuss and act on issues that are extraordinary or involve more than one ministry. After Easter we will be inviting more members of Trinity to become involved in these varied and vital ministries.

Two Council-wide initiatives will be launched for completion this year. The first is a review of our Constitution and by-laws especially looking at our governance structure. Second, we will form an IT (information technology) working group that will recommend changes and improvements regarding phone, computer hardware, broadband internet, website, wireless, computer access & education for our members, etc.

We are blessed with strong and self-motivated staff and leadership. Give some prayerful
consideration as to where you can serve or continue to serve.

Worship, Welcome and Serve,
Bob Beckman

Stewardship
Much attention is given to our material possessions during the course of our lives, both in secular and religious circles. Truly, money answereth all things! Traditionally it has been the realm of stewardship to concern itself with appealing to the congregation for monetary gifts, and in this effort we have been most blessed. However, this spring and summer Stewardship at Trinity is going to try something a little new and emphasize those other gifts so many at Trinity are endowed with; spiritual gifts such as practical skills, talents, time, and passions that we, as good neighbors, would be willing to offer up to those in the community who would benefit.

If anyone is interested in learning more or (even better) helping out in Stewardship this year PLEASE let your voice be heard! I am new to the council and would be a prime target for any and all unwarranted advice, criticism, etc.

Thanks to all who consider this ministry, as well as to those whose kind words of support and
encouragement have meant so much.

God Bless!
Joe Domko
