Text Box: “LIVING DAYS OF WELCOME!”

These last days, the days of Advent, have highlighted the
welcoming Spirit of God among us. Something’s coming! Some ONE is coming! God will deliver on HIS promise of old! (And when you read this, by the calendar, we will have marked another Christmas.) I hope Christmas came to you - CHRIST CAME TO YOU - with wonder and surprise, and grace.

God’s coming is a coming of welcome. We are welcomed by the One Who lifts our burdens, Who graces us in healing, Who challenges us mission and ministry. Christmas speaks volumes of the welcoming presence of God, in Jesus, welcoming us in life.

Christmas also speaks volumes of our welcoming the Guest - the Christ. We have been doing that as we go about ministry together in this place. We welcome others. We welcome one another. We serve together in the Name of Jesus.

Our logo appears on sorts of our communications. Notice the
window. In the window there is the cross of our Lord Jesus. Every time we look out, we look through the cross. The cross defines our view, shapes our lives and our words, defines who we are. We are a people who live in faith - because of the cross God has welcomed into lives of service and worship. At the cross, in the waters of baptism, we are commissioned.

Through the window of our faith others see us. Do they see the cross? Do they see that because of the cross of Christ we are different?
Do they see Jesus in us - at the cradle and at the cross?

It might have been easier to welcome others during the Advent days, and during the days of Christmas. Easier to speak of the business of the season. Now we are called to welcome others in faith, because of the cross, through the cross. Let us pray that we continue to welcome in the grace ways that God welcomes us!

“THANK YOU!” - Thank you for your many words of care and love, greetings, cards, goodies, and appreciation during this Christmas time (and throughout the year). May the gift of our Lord Jesus
remain with us in the coming year as we serve and grow in ministry together. Pastor Jim and Terry
